MARLBOROUGH ROWING REGATTA.

« ) The regatta at Spring Creek yesterday excited much interest. The races on the whole were well contested. The officers of the day were :— Commodore, Mr. C. H. Mills, M.H.R. ; Vice-Commodore, Mr. J. G-. Trevor ; Judge, Mr. G. B. Richardson ; Umpire, Mr. A. P. Green ; -Referee, Mr. J. H. Redwood; Starter, Mr. G. T. Seymour; Time-keeper, Mr. Fred. Redwood. Appended are the results ; — Maiden fours, one mile. — First prize, £6 10s ; second prize, £I— Picton Rowing Club (C. Perauo stroke, H. Hilton 3, J. Nash 2, A. Galbraith bow, Stow cox), 1 : Blenheim Rowing Club (J. M. Jackson stroke, R. Logan 3, J. Clarke 2, W. Morrish bow, L. Grace cox), 2. The Senior Pair race was a row-over for the Picton Club. Junior Fours, one mile and a half— First prize, £8 ; second prize, £I.— Star Boating Club (Bendall stroke, Fanning 3, Maudsley 2, Bendall bow, Weston cox), 1 ; Picton Rowiug Club, B crew (C. Perauo stroke, H. Hilton 3, J. Nash 2, A. Galbraith bow), 2 ; 'Blenheim Rowing Club (J. M. Jackson stroke, R. Logan 3, J. Clarke 2, W. Morrish bow, L. Grace cox), 3. Pioton Rowing Club, A crew, also started. A good start was effected, Blenheim getting slightly the best of it. At the mile post'the Stars drew a\va} r and won by two lengths, Picton B crew close up second, tbe others finishing as above. The Senior Fours race was decided between the A and B crews of the Picton Club, the former gaining the judge's verdict. The Senior Double Sculls was also a row over ior Picton. Junior Pairs, one mile ; first prize £2, second 10s — Pioton Rowing Club B crew (J. Nash, stroke, A. Galbraith, bow), 1 ; Star Boating Club (Maudsley, stroke, Fanning, bow, Weston, cox), 2; Picton Rowing Club A crew (S. Fell stroke, C.' Peek bow, Stow cox), 3. The Blenheim Rowing Club crew also started. The Star Boating Club got the worst of the start, and had to be conteut with the outside course. The winning crew was never caught, beating the Stars by about a length, Blenheim a bad last. Junior Double Sculls, one mile ; first prize £2, second 10s.— Star Boating Club (Bendall Bros., "Weston cox), 1; Blenheim Rowing Club (A. J. Maclaiue stroke, J. M. Jackson bow, L. Grace cox), 2; Picton Rowing Club ("A" crew— A. Fell stroke., J. Price bow), 3. A good race. Won by about two lengths.
