SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
« A carnival in connection with the juvenile swimming classes conducted by Professor and Mrs. Pannel was held at the Thorndon Baths yesterday afternoon, and proved a great success. The water was perfectly smooth, and was not too cold for the swimmers. Mrs. Gresley Lukin ari*d Mr. Pollock acted as judges, and Professor Pannel started the races. The results were ;— Girls' Championship, 50yds— Linda M'Lean, 1 ; Nellie Clere, 2 ; Winnie Pollock, 3. Girls' Race (under ten years)— Violet Tyer, 1; Aggie Fife. 6EI ;sie Smith, 3. Beginners' Race —Nellie Clere, 1; Winnie Pollock, 2; Amy Gould, 3. Boys' Race (under 14)— Keith Fife, 1 ; Sydney Siddolph, 2 ; Len Tyer, 3. Neatest Header (boys) — Horace Tyer, 1; Keith Fife, 2. Monte Ohristo Act— Keith Fife, 1. Feet-firsL Plunge (girls)— Winnie Pollook, 1 \ Violet Ronayne, 2. Neatest Header (girls)— Winnie Pollock and Violet Tyer a tie ; Amy Gould, 3. Booby Race— Agnes Wollerman, 1. Fancy Swimming and Floating — Winnie Pollock, 1 ; Violet Ronayne, 2. Boys' Race (under 16)— Keith Fife, lj Len Tyer, 2. A swimming match between Professor Pannel and a recent arrival from England for £10 a side did not come off, as the Englishman was not present. Professor Pannel gave a fine exhibition of swimming, a mite of a child named Carl Smith also performing.
