Christchurch:, 30th January. The Canterbury College Board of Governors concluded a discussion this afternoon on the question of reducing the salaries of certain Professors. The motion was negatived. Invercaegill, 30th January. An elderly man named Hugh M'Lymont, who is weak minded, escaped from the Hospital six days ago, and was found yesterday among the rushes in a secluded spot on the foreshore, where he had evidently lain without food, exposed to the rain and sun all the time. He is in a very emaciated condition. A youth named William Livingstone, aged 21 years, has been committed for trial for an alleged offence upon a girl 13 years of age. Bluff, This Day. The Rev. Dr. Bevan, pastor of the Collinsstreet Congregational Churcb, Melbourne, is a passenger by the Wakatipu to attend the meeting of the Congregational Union at Dunedin next week. Thereafter, he will visit the northern churches and deliver lectures. [oue own correspondent.] Auckland, This Day. Mr. Moresby has sold his handsome oil launch to Mr. G. F. Black, of Akaroa, who takes her down in the Waihora. She is looked upon as one of the prettiest yachts in this harbour.
