PROPOSED NEW UNIVERSITIES FOR IRELAND.
» ~2Z' = Cpress association.] London, 26th January. The Eight Hon. A. J. Balfour, First Lord of the Treasury, advocates the establishment of two new teaching Universities in Ireland — one at Dublin and the other at Belfast — open to adherents of all denominations. The former, it is suggested, should be controlled by Catholics and the latter by Presbyterians, both being subject to Test Acts and similar safeguards.
