THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.

{PKESS ASSOCIATION.] London, 29fch December. Weddel's Annual Review of the Meat Trade has been issued. It states that the supplies of meat have not increased beyond the usual rate of demand. Meat grown abnormally has realised more satisfactory prices than that brought from Australia, and has enabled the River Plate to capture the provincial markets, especially in the Midland and northern counties. Mr. Weddel urges colonists to import pedigree stock. Argentina has imported 50,000 head during the last 20 years, wh~e Australasia has only obtained 2000 for breeding purposes. There is, however, a strong demand for meat, which, with the lightness of stocks, augurs well lor the immediate future. London now possesses 17 frozen stores, capable of hojda million and a half carcases, while the provinces have 44 with a storage capacity of a million and three-quarters. In many districts the storage exceeded the demand.
