HARBOUR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of • the Harbour Board was held to-day. Present — Messrs. F. H. Eraser (Chairman), W. Bootb, 11. Beauehanip, W. Cable, G. Fisher and J. llutcheson, M.H.R.'s, N. Reid, and the Mayor. The Board adopted the recommendation of the City Council—" That the portion" of the Grainier-street block now in No. 2 district be in future included in No. 1 district, but with the following modification — viz., that such buildings as the City Surveyor considers are in a condition to allow of re-erection be allowed to be removed to the new frontages for a period not exceeding seven years, a satisfactory bond being given in all cases to secure removal at the expiration of such period." - The following recommendations of the Wharves and Accounts Committee were adopted : — 1. That on the next revision of bylaws, provision be made to extend bs r 50 per cent the lay-days allowed to sailing vessel* loading or discharging timber cargoes. 2. That the seal of the Board be affixed to a foreshore license to Messrs. Townsend and Paul for a boalshed at Worser Bay. 3. That the foreshore license of Mr. D. Christie, for a boatshed at,, Clyde -quay, be cancelled, and that he be allowed to remove the building (Licence No. 41). 4. That the request of the New Zealand Shipping Company (Limited) for concessions to the Vancouver mail service be not agreed to. fi. That £75 bo deducted from the amount payable to Mr. James Trevor for liquidated damages for the delay in the completion of contract No. 90 for buildings for hydraulic pumping station at Waterloo-quay. 6. That the proposed new joint road and railway wharf at; Waterloo-quay be known as the "Glasgow Wharf." 7. That the Board approve plans laid on the table for concrete wall and timber staging to be constructed at Waterloo-quay, and for concrete wall and sewer extensions at Te Aro, and that they be sent forward to the Marine Department. On coming out of Committee ifc was reported that three tenders had been received for contract No. 94, tanks for the pumpiug-

station, and that of Messrs. Robertson and Co. was ordered to be accepted if found in order. Tlip recommendation from Ihe Fire Appliances Committee to the effect that the Engineer be instructed to mak<» further enquiries concerning fire-floats, with a view to ordering one, was adopted. Recommendations from tho Legislation Committee as to the Grainger-street block were considered, but the result of the discussion was not made public, as further details are to be secured.
