[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received September 27, 9.15 a.m.) London, 26th September. The Australian racehorse Georgic won the Prince Edward Handicap, worth about 1800 ?ovs, and run over a mile course at thet Manchester Meeting. Newhaven finished, sixth in the race. Melbourne, This Dat. Airlock, Vigorous, Plutus, aad Battle Abbey have been scratched for the Caulfield Cup, and Battle Abbey for the Melbourne Cup. Auckland, This Day. The racehorse Swordfish has been shipped to Lyttelton by the Takapuna to fulfil his New Zealand Cup engagement. WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. A meeting of the newly-elected Stewards of the Wellington Racing Club was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. T. G. Macarthy presiding. It was decided that the Spring Meeting should be held on Wednesday and Friday, 23rd and 25th November, and to iutorm the Feilding Club that it was intended to revert back to the old date, 30fch November, next year. The following committees were appointed : — Programme Committee—Messrs. G.H. Scales, G.H. Harbroe, G. Hutchison, Riddiford, • and J. J. Curtis. Course Committee — Messrs. G. H. Scales, J. Wilkins, A. E. Pearce, J. Ames, and J. J. Curtis. Finance and Privileges Committee — Messrs. T. G. Macarthy, G. H. Harbroe, A. E. Pearce, and the Hon. C. J. Johnston. Messrs. T. G. Macarthy and J. E. Harcourt were deputed to deal with trainers' and jockeys' licenses, and. a special committee consisting of Messrs. G. Hutchison, G. H. Scales, J. Wilkius, J. Ames, and the Hon. C. J. Johnston was set up to acquire further land at the Hutt and improve the turn into the straight. It was decided that the Spring Meeting programme should be drawn up at once, and that the amount must not exceed £1700, or £180 more than last year. The hack events are to be endowed to the extent of £100 each. Nominations are to be called for the Wellington Cup and the Racing Club Handicap, to be run at the Summer Meeting. The Cup will be worth £500 and the Handicap £300, or £50 more than last year. The Programme Committee is to report to the Si c wards next Monday as to the dates of th& other meetings, and the prize money to be given in stakes.
