ANOTHER BRILLIANT YOUNG NEW ZEALANDER.
A HIGH PLACE IN THE INDIAN CIVIL SERVICE EXAM. '[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] London, 24th September. Mr. G. F. King Adams, of the Otago University College, has passed the Indian Civil Service examination with credit. Mr. King Adams is the fourth son of Mr. C. W. Adams, Chief Surveyor of Marlborough, and a brother of Mr. Arthur Adams, of Sydney, until recently a member of the literary staff of the Evening Post. He was born at Lawrence, iv Otago, 23 years ago, and left the colony for England about a year back. He was educated at the Terrace School in Wellington, the Georgestreet School in Dunedin, the Otago High School, and the Otago University College, and at each institution acquitted himself with great credit. He passed his matriculation examination brilliantly, and came out at the top of the New Zealand University junior examination, won a scholarship offered by the Otago Board of Education, and also carried off the finwald Scholarship. His University papers were brought under the notice of the late Mr. Wren, of London, a leading " coach " for the Indian Civil Service examinations, and on that gentleman's advice he went Home and entered for the contest in which he has just acquitted himself so creditably. It is his intention to accept the first vacancy in the Indian Civil Service, in which his salary to begin with will be £320 a year.
