FOOTBALL.
As was generally expected, the appeal made by the Wellington Union to the New Zealand Union against Mr. Thomson's decision in awarding the penalty kick from which Canterbury kicked its second goal in the Canterbury- Wellington match has been dismissed by the Appeal Committee of the Colonial Union. The subject will now be brought before the English Union with a view of getting a definite reading of a somewhat intricate rule. The members of the Management Committee of the Wellington Union were not altogether unanimous on the proposal to appeal against Canterbury's second goal, two members of the Committee unhesitatingly affirming that the referee's decision was a "right one in the circumstances.
