OPENING OF THE BOATING SEASON.
If the weather continues fine the display in connection with the opening of the boating season in Wellington to-morrow afternoon should be well worth witnessing. Mr. G. F. C. Campbell, who has undertaken the duties of Marshall, has arranged that the boats are to lead out in line ahead in the following order, each boat to keep one clear length astern of the boat in front of it : — Ellen Ballance, Naval boats, in order of precedence ; ships' boats, Star whalers, Wellington whaler, Horonioana whaler, Star eight oar, Wellington outrigged fours, Star outrigged fours,inrigged fours, Star double scullers, Wellington doable scullers, pair cars, tub pairs, Star scullers, Wellington scullers, aud pleasure boats. Should the wind be from the South the procession will start from the south side of the Queen's Wharf, leading past the Naral boat station, tiie Star and Wellington boathouses, and follow the shore as far as Te Aro Baths. Should ,the wind be from the north, the procession will start from the east of the 1 Wellington Rowing Club's boathouse, and follow the northern shore as fat as the. Railway Wharf. In passing the Star boathouse, the crews will salute the Governor by peaking oars. At Te Aro Baths or off Railway Wharf, as the case may be, the boats will wheel round outwards and return in the same order. The line will return in. the same order and assemble round the Star skids, when the usual ceremony of declaring the season open will take place. The procession will start at 2.45 o'clock sharp.
