RESOLUTIONS OF COLONIAL PARLIAMENTS.

(Received September 23, 9.45 a.m.) Melbourne, This Day. Iv the Legislative Assembly the Premier (Sir George Turner) moved a resolution, which was carried, recording appreciation of Sir George" Grey's services to the Empire, and condolence in the loss of so devoted a servant of the Queen, to whom the message will be forwarded. Adelaide, This Day. In the Legislative Assembly the Premier (the Right Hon. Mr. Kingston) expressed regret at the/death of Sir George Grey, who. he said, would always be remembered with respect because of his brilliant public services in Australia and elsewhere. The Agent-General will represent this colony at the funeral and* place a wreath on the grave. Pebth, This Day. The Premier (Sir John Forrest) has cabled to the Agent-General : — " Have heard with regret of Sir George Grey's death. Please ollicially attend the funeral and send a wreath."

Before any business was entered upon at the City Council last evening, the Mayor (Mr. J. R! Blair) referred to the death of Sir George Grey as a great loss to the colony. So much had Oeen said and written on the matter that he would not do more than move — " That this Council desires to place on record its sense of the eminent services rendered to the colony of New Zealand by the late Sir George Grey, and that a respectful expression of the Council's sympathy be conveyed to his relatives in England." Councillor J. Smith, seconded the motion, saying tl)at .the .late Sir George was a perfect gentleman in every sense of the word, and one who had done his level best for the colony. The motion was carried. The Wesleyan Literary aud Debating Society last evening passed the following resolution :—": — " That this society desires to place on record its sense of appreciation of the great services rendered to the colony and Empire by the late Sir George Gre3 f , P. 0., X.C.8., and its deep regret at the loss the colony has sustained by his death." The Trades and Labour Council added its tribute as follows: — "That this Council desires to place on record its high appreciation of the great services rendered to the democracy of Australasia by the late Sir George Grey."
