EXTRAORDINARY ACTION OF A SOLDIER-MINISTER. AN IMPORTANT STEP ON HIS OWN AUTHORITY.
(Received September 23, 9.23 a.m.) Paeis, 22nd September. There is much excitement over the latest developments in the Dreyfus case. It has transpired that General Zurlinden, during his short term of office as Minister for War, ordered the prosecution of Colonel Picquart without consulting the other members of the Cabinet. The General also secured to himself the Governorship of Paris so as to put his own order into execution.
