Guantanamo and Caimamera, two towns situated on opposite shores of Guantanamo Bay, 45 miles east of Santiago de Cuba, surrendered when notified of the fall of Santiago. Manzanillo, situated on the eastern shore of a deep bay, and some 90 miles west of Santiago in a direct line, was bombarded by two gunboats. Four Spanish vessels were destroyed. The ports of East Cuba are to be kept open for the commerce of neutral nations.
