GIRLS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY.
The fifteenth annual meeting of the Girls' Friendly Society was held in the Lodge, Vivian-street, yesterday afternoon, Mrs. FitzGerald (President) in the chair. The report detailed the changes of the yeaT, the services held in connection with the socitsty at the various churches, and the other events. Owing to the absence in England of Miss Greenwood a re-arrangement of the classes had to be made, and special mention was made of the help rendered therein by Meadatnes liobiusou, H. Smith, liedward, Mason, Pharazyn, and Misses Morrah and M. Butts, the last-named having started a candidates' class in Newtowu. Referring to the Lodge, the report stated that all had gone well uuder Miss liix's careful management. The number of inmates during the year, not counting re-admissions, had been 135. The present membership totalled 62, there were 87 candidates, 24 honorar}' associates, 19 working associates, and 24 diocesan associates. The chief work done amongst members had been with those commended by the parent society in England, and some of those helped, not only in the city, bub in passing through "Wellington, have been most grateful. The balance-sheet, read by Mrs. Ashcrofb (Treasurer), showed the society to be in a healthy condition, the balance to credit, having increased from £59 to £76. The sick fund had not been drawn upon during the year. On the motion of the President, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The office-bearers and Council were all paid the compliment of re-election. The directorate for the ensuing term, therefore, is — President, Mrs. FilzGerald ; VicePresidents, Mesdames Wallis and Fancourt and Miss Greenwood ; -Hon. Treasurer, Miss AshoroL't; Eon. Secretary, Miss Ashcroft; Council, Mesdames D. Anderson, Coffey, Mason, Morrah, W. Pharazyn, Stock, Sprott, Tanner, Vennell, T. C. Williams, and lied ward. Special reference was made to the services rendered during the year by Mrs. and Miss Afchcroft. The excellent umnagement of the Lodge was meutionfd, and a vote of thanks to Miss Itix was passed by acclamation. This concluded the annual business.
