AMERICAN GUNBOATS AGAINST SPANISH AUXILIARIES. TWO OF THE SPANIARDS SUNK. (Received July 6, 10.45 a.m.) Washington, sth July. A smart naval engagement has taken place off Manzanillo, a port in a bay on the south coast of Cuba, some distance to the west of Santiago, between three American
gunboats and nine Spanish ships, the latter chiefly mercantile vessels improvised as warships. One of tho Americau gunboats was disabled, aud two of the Spanish ships were sunk.
