ENORMOUS ATTENDANCE AT THE LYING-IN-STATE. [press association.] London, 27th May. Mr. Gladstone's coffin was sealed on arrival at Westminster Hall aud placed on the catafalque. Tho Rev. A. B. O. Wilberforce, Canon of Westminster, conducted the ■ervice. During tho last fourteen hours 160,000 persons of all classes passed the coffin in reverential silence. Mrs. Gladstone will attend the funeral. Ottawa, 27th May. Speaking in the House of Commons, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Premier of Canada, said Mr. Gladstone was a tireless, dauntless champion of the oppressed, and the most marvellous mental incarnation since Napoleon. _____ _______
