AGRICULTURAL SHOW GROUNDS.
• » TO THE EDITOR. Sir — I should have thought, after the late volunteer encampment at Miramar, the committee appointed to select a site would have had no difficulty whatever in arriving at a decision as to the best and most suitable place for the show grounds. On Good Friday and the three following days thousands of men, women, and children were to be seen wending their way to the camp, and returning by way of Newtown, thence by tram to town. If the Racing Club and the Committee of the Agricultural aud Pastoral Society would only join together and purchase this splendid estate, the grounds could be laid out suitable for both institutions. I am one of those who think a great mistake was made when the ratepayers of this city threw cold water on the late Mayor (Mr. Bell's) scheme for acquiring this charming and valuable estate, and I trust the Agricultural Society will, either jointlyjwith the Racing Club or separately, secure this site, if it is not already too late. I am, &c, Advance Wellington. | Wellington, 22nd April, 1898.
