ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

« The annual meeting of the St. John Ambulance Association was held in the Art Gallery last evening, the Bishop of WelJingtou taking the chair until the arrival of Lord Ranfurly later iv the evening. His Excellency was accompanied by Lady Ranfurly and party. He expressed his pleasure in being there to present certificates aud awards, but Avas extremely sorry that the sad death of Mrs. Maxwell and the influenza epidemio had prevented many people from attending. Lord Ranfurly then sketched the work done by the Order of Sb". John from its inception, aud in concludiug expressed a hope that more people would take advantage of the lectures and instruction given by the St. John Ambulance Association. His Excellency then moved the adoptiou of the report, details of which we published yesterday. Dr. Pyffe, seconding the' adoption of the report, spoke of the utility of tho Association in London, where, he said, the police went through a course of lectures under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Association. It would be a most excellent thin? in New Zealand if the police had the benefit of such lectures. The Bishop of Wellington said His Excellency had made them feel that he was heart und soul with members of the Order in its great and good works. They all felt the prouder for what His Excellency had told them of the able work done by the Order in the past. His Lordship heartily tuanked His Excellency on behalf of all present (Applause.) Mr. J. B. Gould proposed a vote of thanks to the Honorary Staff of the Welliugton Centre, which was carried by acclamation. A vote of thanks was accorded to His Excellency, and the meeting closed.
