♦ INTERPROVINCIAL. The Principal of Three Kings College (Wesleyan) says that the work of that and the Anglican schools on tbe natives is too much like those streams that now into the desert and are lost in the unfertile sand. Influenced, no doubt, by the recent death of William Gunn on the snowy summit of the Old Man Range, the Tuapeka County Council has voted £50 for tbe erection of a shelter shed and poles to the boundary of the Tuapeka County on that mountain. At a recent meeting of the Dunedin and Suburban Dairymen's Association it was decided to open a defaulters' list, because many persons used tht money which should go to those who supplied them with necessaries in keeping holidays. One hundred legs of mutton were donated by the Ocean Beach Freezing Works to the Invercargill Charitable Aid Board to distribute to applicants. Diphtheria has appeared in the Green Island (Otago) district. One death has occurred, and the School Committee has closed the school abruptly. Motueka, Nelson, for its size, does a larger business in eggs than any district in the colony. The quantity shipped yearly is worth on an average £2500.
