ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
[BY TELEGBAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Napieb, 16th November. A sad fatality happened off the Marine Parade this afternoon. Mrs. A. Hickey, wife of an employe" of the Harbour Board, was bathing her feet in the sea, when the strong under-current took her out. Two young men named P. Emerson and J. M. Hamilton pluckily went to the rescue, going about 200 yards out. There was a heavy surf running at the time, but when they brought the woman ashore she was lifeless. Deceased leaves a grown-up family. Auckland, This Day. A man named John Halstead has been found dead under a bridge at Henderson. Some injuries are said to be on his throat. (oub own correspondent.) Gbeytown Nobth, This Day. The body found in the Ruamahunga River yesterday is that of the half-caste Patrick Leahy Russell, who has been missing since 15th October. An inquest was held to-day, when a verdict was returned that Russell committed suicide by drowning. The evidence showed that he was involved in monetary troubles.
