A.,, discussion entitled '* Whom shall we 'Ma*ry ?" was given by i 3 lady members ot, the society, after which there were violin solos by Miss E. Godber and Mr. A. Kellow; songs by Misses W. Birch, Harvey, M. Harvey, Ran. derson, Wilkins, and by Messrs. J. Godber^ W.Harvey, F. Rishworth; recitations by' Misses E. Hawthorn, M, Harvey, E. Sharp, •and Messrs. E. L. Burgess and W, E. Fuller. The entertain mejit was much enjoyed by the inmates, who encored several items. The visitors were heartily thanked by the Superintendent of the Home. Court Sir George Grey, A.0.F., celebrated its 36th anniversary last night at St. George's Hall with a banquet catered .for by Mr. Piunock, of the Trocadero. Bro, J. ]?. Adams, P.D.C.R., was in the chair, with Bros. It. E. 'Harman, D.C.R., S. A. Capper, Trustee, and A. Whiteford, J).S., as vicechairmen. The Chairman remarked upon the flourishing condition of the Court, it having increased in funds this year by £310 and also in membership. The toast ol " The Queen " was drunk in bumpers. Bro. Capper, in proposing the toast of " The Founders of the Court," spoke with regret of the unavoidable absence of Bro. C. H. Gillespie, who could speak of its begiunings. The other iCity courts were the offshoots from Sir George Grey, and there was no lodge in a better position than it at the present time. This was mainly due to the early founders. The toast was Coupled with the names of Bros. C. H. Gillespie, D. T. Smith, and J. Robertson. Bro. D. T. Smith (one of the founders), in reply, spoke of the different phases of the history of in the North Island and the opening of Court Sir George Grey He also mentioued that the Sanctuary of Shepherds in the Order of Forestry ii! Wellington wa& the richest in the world in proportion to its size. '' Court Sir George Grey " was proposed by Bro. T. Howell, of Court Robin Hood, and responded to by Bro. G. T. Harris, C.fi. "The Wellington District Officers," proposed by Bro. Key, was replied to by Bros. Haiman and Whiteford; "Kindred, Societies," proposed by Bro. Frederick?, was responded to by Bro. J. G. Clark ; and " Court Trustees," proposed by Bro. Skinner, was replied to by Bro. Adams. " The Catering Committee," "The Visitors" "The Press," and "The Ladies" were also honoured. Songs and recitations were contributed by Bros. Dean, Bullock, Smith, W. Hill, Leydon, RobertsoD, Skinner, Payne Beard, Capper, Bradley, J. F. Adams, Fredericks, Dineen, and Redwood. The Secretary (Bro. • James Rbbertson) was mainly responsible for the excellence of the arrangements.
