A RIVAL TO THE PACIFIC CABLE
* THE PREFERENCE OF THE NAVAL AND MILITARY AUTHORITIES. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received July 23, 10 a.m.) London, 22nd July. The British military and naval authorities prefer the cable which it is proposed to lay from Perth (W.A.) to the Cape Colony to the Pacific cable.
