+ PROPOSAL TO CONTRACT THE * BULL'S-EYE.
[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] London, 21st July. The phenomenal scoring throughout the Bisley meeting has given rise to a suggestion that the bull's-eye should be made smaller, or should contain a central ring of higher value. Sixty-nine competitors made possibles at the 600 yds for the Queen's Prize. Prizes in the competition for Martin's Cup (200 yds, open to volunteers) were won by Downie (Victoria), with 32 ; Fargher (Victoria), 31 ; Harris (Little River), Simpson (Kaiapoi), 30. Bombardier Carter, of Victoria, tied with five others in the match for St. George's Challenge Vase (500, and 800 yds, for volunteers), which, after the Queen's Prize Match, is the principal volunteer competition. [Another portion of the above message mentions Ballinger of Wellington and Downie of Victoria as having made possibles at the 600 yds range, but it is not clear in what match].
