« The Wellington • Guards were inspected hst evening by Major Collins. Capt. Paterson was in command, and Lieuts. Duthie and Harcourt were also present. At tho conclusion of the pprade reference was made to the order of the Defence -Department requiring the corps to go into the regulation uniform at the beginning of next year, and it was decided to hold a special meeting to discuss the matter. The appointment as lieutenants of Messrs. A. S. Bias and C. H. Fanning, td the Wellington Navals and Petone Navals respectively is gazetted. An Imperial volunteer officer's decoration has been issued to Lieut.-Col. Francis, North Canterbury Battalion of Infantry, he having completed 20 .years' efficient service
