THE INDIAN EARTHQUAKES.
«. SERIOUS EFFECTS OVER A LARGE STRETCH OF COUNTRY. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received June 16, 10 a.m.) Calcutta, 15th June. The earthquake reported this week as having been experienced in Calcutta also affected the districts of Simla (in the Punjaub), Agra (Central India), and 13ombay. A terrific shook was felfc at Darjeeling, the tea-growing centre to the north-east of Bengal, where many houses were destioyed. At Manipur (between Bengal and Burmab) lar< n 'e insures opened in the ground, causing railway bridges to collapse, and as a consequence the railway service is stopped. J In Bengal a train was overturned.
