THORNDON CLUB.
At Thorndon, too, Scotland wrestled with The World in a deciding match, each side having previously won a game. On paper Scotland was the stronger, but the battle is not always to the strong, and in the end they had to submit to an 11 points defeat at the hands of The AVorld. The final match for the Club Pairs was played, Davis and Blyth beating Alre and M'Lean by one point. Continuing the third round of the games for the President's trophy, Bell defeated Danks and Bary beat Richards. The following is the drawing for the fourth round, to be finished by next Saturday : — Underwood owes 4 to Bell, Bary owes 7 to Hosie. Several pair games were played, with the following result : — Moncrieff Snaddon Page (skip) 21 Varcoe (skip) 15 Stuart Scott Hewitt (skip) 22 Chapman (skip) 10 Hueston Hamerton Allen (skip) 26 Rowe (skip) 17 Mrs. Varcoe provided afternoon tea for visitors and players. A match Austin-street against all other members of the club is being arranged for next Saturday.
