WELLINGTON-MAN A WATU RAILWAY COMPANY.
THE NEW GENEEAL MANAGER Mr. W. M. Hannay has been appointed General Manager of the Wellington-Mana-watu Eailway Company in place of Mr. J. E. Fulton, and will- for the future combine the offices of Secretary and General Manager. Mr. Hannay's experience of railway management has been long and varied. For 10 years he was in the eniploj'ment of the Glasgow and South Western Eailway Company, and he entered the New Zealand Government service in May, 1876. He was appointed Assistant Traffic Manager in June, 1878, Traffic Manager in 1879, and Assistant General Manager in 1880. In 1890 he was chosen as one of the Eailway Commissioners for the colony, and he held office with Messrs. M'Kerrow and Maxwell for about five years. Later he became Secretary, to the Wellington-Manawatu Eailway Company, a position held by him until the present time. The announcement of Mr. Hannay's new appointment will be received with general satisfaction.
