A serious collision has occurred in Newcastle Ilarbour between the steamers Dovedale (1821 tons) and Indianapolis (2226 tons), both under charter to the Adelaide Shipping Company. The Dovedale, entering her berth, struck the Indianapolis, which was lying at. the Dyke loading cattle, with tremendous force, and stove in a number of plates abreast of the forward hatch.
