AN AUCKLAND SENSATION.
DISAPPEARANCE OF A BUSINESS MAN. A WARRANT ISSUED FOR HIS ARREST. [BY TELEGRAPH— PBEBB ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, Bth December. A well-known Auoklaud business man is missing from his office and his usual haunts. On Saturday, 28th November, the day .on which the Mariposa left for San Francisco, the missing man said he would be absent for a few days, as he was about to pay a visit to the country. As he has not since been seen enquiry was made, resulting in an informa- ' tion being laid charging him with stealing ] £1132 16s 4d from the funds of a local | sooiety in which the publio are largely interested, and a warrant for New Zealand for his arrest was issued to-day. It is stated that three cheques which were duly made out in connection with the business of the society for £1132 16s 4d were cashed at the bank on the morning of the 28th. Investigation is being made, and no doubt further light will be thrown on the matter in the course of a few days.
