M'Cardell. , The sixteenth annual sports meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club took place on Saturday afternoon at the Basin ie&rve. There was very favourable weather, but the attendance was limited at no time exceeding 500. The meeting was the most uninteresting held by the clut for some years. None of the events cal for particular mention save the one-mill race, in which Angell, starting fron scratch, secured a standard badgi of honour by cutting out the dis tance in 4min 42sec, thus lowering th time, whioh formerlj 'stood at 4min 45se< Angell would certainly have won had h run with better judgment in the earhe period of the contest. Bridge wai much i: evidence, appropriating the 120 yds junio handicap, 250 yds handicap, and 440 yd handicap, as well as running third in th half-mile handicap. Bridge, running very strongly from the start, breasted the tape about a yard in front of Herbert. M'Guire entered % protest against Bridge for jostling, which was disallowed. Time, 27 4-ssec. Angell, who displayed lack of judgment in running the race, made a big effort to displace Manning about IOC yards from home, but the latter staved ofl the challenge, and won a game finish by J yard. Juriss held the leac until half-way in the last lap, when he wai passed by Grove, who finished some 15ydi to the good. The other riders were a lonj way in the rear.
