The Premier (Mr. Turner) has promised to suspend for six months his decision to refuse a subsidy to any hospital at Avhich nurses are compelled to work more than 48 hours weekly. '. Sydney, This Day. The Supreme Court has granted an application to postpone the hearing of the Mercadool conspiracy case until a civil case in connection with the matter has been disposed of. Brisbane, This Day. Stook-owners are petitioning- the Government for a reduction of. their rent, owing to the ravages of the tick. At the half-yearly meeting of the Bank of North Queensland the report, which was adopted, showed a net profit of £1700, to which was added £3945 from last half-year. No dividend was declared, the whole amount being carried forward. Hobakt, This Day. At the half-yearly meeting of the Bank of Van DiemeVs Land, the Chairman stated that they hoped to complete the winding-up during the next year. i
