ARAWA SAILING CLUB.
The third and last heat for the Commodore's cup was sailed on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Turnbull's Miru (with Captain Proaser, of the Pakeha, at the tiller) aeoured first place, and wins the cup with 8 points out of a possible 12, Mr. Seager'a Bolie boing seoond with 4 points. The first heat for half-raterß, 18-footers, and 14-footers for Mrs. Wardrop'a burgee, Mr. Jaa Coote'a trophy, and Mr. H. Gilmer'a trophy respectively were also sailed, with the following results i— Half-raters— Mr. Wardrop's Vixen, 1 ; Miru, 2. 18-footers— Mr. Moffatt's Irex, 1. 14-footera — Both competitors gave up through accidents. The wind blew exoffedingly hard from the north Boon after the start, and as meet of the boats were under full canvas, the orews had rather an exoiting time of it. Out of eight boats which started only three finished, the others all haying to give up through gear and spars oarrying away. Mr. Chalmers' Dauntless, when in a splendid position on the second round, carried her stays away and bad to run home under the Point. Ihe Belle carried an ay her chain platen The Rowi broke her <?aff, and the Irex snapped her boom, while the half-rater Hum, with Mr. It. C. Renuer at the tiller, had to run for home through being over-oanvaßsed and short-handed.
