BANK OF NIW ZIALAND. The Attorney- General moved that the Connoil should s'.t on Saturday at 11 o'olook. The Bank Note Issue Aot wonld expire on Monday, and it was important to have the Bill passed before tbat day. After some further discussion the debate was adjourned till 4.30 p.nn', when a further adjournment of the matter till this morning at 11 o'olook was agreed to. THE BTBTXII OF VOTING. The Hon. Captain Baillie moved that the system of voting in the Connoil should follow that of the tJonse. The, Hon. J. Rigg moved as an amendment that the question be referred baok to the Committee on Standing Order* with a recommendation that the, voting follow the Frenoh system, of placing differently oolonred cards in an urn. Taiaroa moved the seoond reading of this Bill, whioh was designed to allow the olaims of natives nnder the contract with tbe New Zealand Company to be heard and determined by a Court of competent jurisdiction, as it was alleged tbat promises and stipulations had never been completely fulfilled or performed The debate was ad jonrned till Wednesday. OTHEtt BILLS The Timaru Publia Park and Reserve Vesting Bill (Hon. W. C. Walker), Masterton Trust Lands Trnst Empowering Bill (Hon. H. Poldwick), and the Fenoing Bill, were read the seoond time. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. This Aftbenoon's Sittjno. The Colonial Treasurer moved the third reading of the Bank Bill. Mr. Mitchelson said tho extent of the liability to be imposed upon the colony would be £3,500,000, as well as a very large unknown liability. The shareholders in the Bank would now have no interest in the institution. The debentures could not be realised for many years. The margin of profi tin the Bank would be exceedingly small. Doubts bad been expressed as to the amount that would be realised upon the Bank's properties. He asked the Colonial Treasurer whether any steps would be taken to place the true position of the Bank before the shareholders in London. He quoted from the statements made by the Treasurer while in London, and said he thought tbat it was necessary for the Treasurer tostateto tbe London shareholders that those statements were mad; as ho had been then informed.
