On Thursday night the safe of the Onehnnga railway station was blown up in the same way at the one at Papakura reoently, and JSS was stolen. Dwhedin. Ta-rs Dat. At the inquest touching the death of John Freeland, at Pigroot, evidenoe showed that the man had taken several lots of Gregory's powdnrs. Of the last lot he received from the ohemist he only took one, and shortly afterwards he said he bad been poisoned. Bmetios were given, bnt the man died. Tbe chemist stated that the powders were taken from a stock bottle from which Freeland had been served before, and othera had had some since without injurious effect. The inquest was adjourned for a week to allow of Professor Blaok making an analysis of the.oontents of the stomaoh, etc. . Arrangements have been 'obnoluded between the Huddart-Parker Co. and the Union Co. for terminating the present ruinous fares and freights.
