SECOND EDITION. THE BANK CRISIS. TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS IN THE HOUSE.

On the House meeting this afternoon, Dr. Newman gave notice that when the Banking Bill was in Committee he would m »'e that the Disqualification Act apply to officers appointed by the Crown either to the Bank of New Zealand or the Realisation Board. The House went into Committee on the Bill Un olauae 1, Mr. G. W. Bussell raised the question of the establishment of a State Bank by moving to insert the word " State," and make the abort title "The State Bank of New Zealand and Banking Aot." It is eipeoted that the Bill will go through to-night, with the exoeption of the provision •s to the purchase of other banking business, •nd that there will be no special difficulty in the Legislative Council to-morrow. Analysis of the division-list on the second reading of the Bank Bill shows that 71 members voted or paired, leaving two unaccounted for besides the Speaker. The absentees were Messrs. Button and B M'Eenzie. The Ministerialists who voted against the Bill were : —Messrs. Buiok, Hall-Jones, W. Hutohison, Joyce, M'Nab, O'Began v Pirani, Saundera, Tanner, B. Thompson,- Graham, Larnach, and J. W. Kelly. Mr. Button 'is solicitor to the Bank at Auckland, and; Mr. B M'Kenzie abstained from voting as he is a shareholder.
