THE VOLUNTEERS.
The Wellington Navels and the. Garrison Band paraded at Monnt Cook last evening for iiupeotion by L'ient.-Col. Newall, trho complimented the Band on its smart appaaranoe. The evening being unsuitable for a maroh-out, the N avals wero handed over to Sergt.-M<i]or Finn, who (rave them a " gruelling "in the details of small-arm drill. The inspecting offioer expressed his satisfaction that tie rfavals endeavonred to keep np their infantry drill, notwithstanding the time they had to devote to the big guns. The annual "oooial" of the company takes plaoe on the 6th September, and on the 9th November a pionio is to be held at Silveratream. The men are now bußily engaged at the boat station getting the outters and. gear in order for the ensuing season.
