MELROSE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

« The monthly meeting of the Melrose Borough Counoil was held last evening, and wbb attended by the Mayor (Mr. J. Collins), and Councillors Baylis, Fear, Wright, Webb, Tait, Brown, Key, and Kershaw. The report of the Works Committee, already published, was adopted. It was deoided to pay £5 to Mr. W. H lines as balanoe of an amount due for the removal of a house at Mitohelltown. so that the road might be widened. CounoiUor Brown was authorised to watoh theCounoil's interest in regard to metalling the Kilbirnie main road. An aaoount from Mr. J. Niool.'/or repairs to a drain at Mitohelltown, was referred to the Works Committee, the Councillors of the Ohiro Ward, and the Inßpeotor of Works. The question of taking over the Roseneath roads ws,s referred to the same Committee. The report of the Queen's Drive Committee, already published, was adopted. The matter of arranging for a vertioal grating and sdt-pitin the neighbourhood of Mitohelltown, the work to be done in conjunction with the City Counoil, was placed in the hands of the Councillors for Ohiro Ward, the Inspeotor of | Works, »nd Councillor Baylis, with power to aot.
