Considerable surprise has been expressed here at the aotion of the Government when extending the limits of the goldmining area in drawing the line at the Waipapa Stream, which ib half-way between Tauranga and Katikati, thus exolnding Kaimi and Te Puke, both of whioh are known to be quartzbeating. It ia thought that the boundary should have' been at least the Tokaitnna River, east of Te Pake Township. Had this been done several licensed holdings would have been applied for. I know for a laot that prospecting licenses for Te Puke have been asked for. . Newa has been received here that a olaim has been pegged out at Katikati, behind the Woodlands Estate.
