A DIABOLICAL LETTER.
fPSESS ASSOCIATION ] Paris, 24th August. A letter addressed, to Baron Alphonse Rothschild here exploded wbon it waa opened by M. Jaoobsky, the Baron's seoretary. M. Jaoobsky had one of his eyes injured by the explosion, and also one hand. Several bystanders had narrow escapes. Tbe outrage is believed to be the Work of Anarchists. (Raoeived August 26, 3& 45 a.m.) London, 25th August. Tho letter contained fulminate of meroury between two pieoes of cardboard with a small detonator. The explosion took place direotly a little foroe was used to withdraw the oardboard from the envelope. Baron Rothsohild was away at the time. Pabis, 25th August. M. Jaoobsky is in a serious oondition, his injuries being moro serious than at first appeared. The letter whioh exploded was first sent to Baron Rothschild's house, but the Baron being absent his valet, thinking it was an important communication, took it to M. Jaoobsky. The dooamoDt was identical with one sent to M. Conßtans in 1891.
