THE COLLEGE TOURNAMENT. The first matoh of the College Tournament—that between the Wellington College and the Wanganui Collegiate School — is being played at Newtown this afternoon. His Exoellenoy the Governor is one of the spectator?. In. the first spell, M'Ara tonched down twioe for Wellington, but Hales and Tripe failed in their efforts to convert. Kember aBO touched down for Wellington, but his soore was disallowed. TAEANAKI V. WELLINGTON. The Taranakiteam arrived from Napier by the Manawatn train last evening, and was escorted to the City Buffet by a number of the looal players. The team is regarded as a particularly Btrong one, and the general opinion is that the Wellington reps, will find it no easy mattor to avert defeat. The visiting team is as follows :— Full-baok, Robinson; three-quarters, H. Good, Allen, and A. Good ; five-eighths, A. Bayley (captain) ; half, finmphries ; wing forwards, J. Laing and Young j forwards, O'Dowda, Hughes, Standish, Livingstone, Lambie, Wells, and Watson. Iho matoh, whioh will be played at Neirtown.'is to start at 2.30 sharp. The' drags with the teams and the Garriion Band leave the City Buffet at 1.45 p.m. The Wellington team is requested to meet in the Athletio Club's Gymnasium this evening. A team from H.M.S. Bingarooma was defeated at Newtown yesterday under Association rules by a Wellington team by three goals to lore. Stewart soored twies, and Cowden once. Mr. Heafford was referee. Tbe team to represent Wellington at the forthcoming Association tournament met last night at the Central Hotel. Mr. T. Shields was elected captain, Mr. C. Hailwood vios-oaptain, and Messrs. Plenderleith and Auld will act as managers to the team. The Athletio gymnasium has been scoured to-night for the representative Wednesday football team. The team- is requested to attend there at*B o'olook, to select a oaptain and arrange othse matters in connection with next Wednesday's matoh with tbe junior representative team.
