Middle District -University College.

A. meeting of the Middle Disfcriofc University College Council was held in the Board of Eduaation office this morning 1 . There were present— Mr. J. E. Blair (in the ohair), the Bishop of Wellington, Dr. Newman, JT.H.B., Meaari. Graham. Buiok, Hogg, and Pirani, M.H-B.'s, Dr. Chappie, and Mr. A. Warburton. An apology for the absence of Sir Robert' Stout, who was detained in the Supreme Court, was reoeived. Mr. Blair, who was unable to be present at last meeting, thanked the Connoil for.elsoting him to the position of Chairman. Mr. A. Dorset, Secretary of the Board of Education, was appointed Secretary pro ton. By-laws drawn up by a oommittee appointed at a previous meeting were adopted. Dr. Newman stated that Sir R. Stout wished to report that he had seen the Minister of Education several times in reference to endowments, buj; had been nnable to obtain any reply up to the present. Dr. Newman went on to say that 4000 acres in the Momohaka Blook, Wellington district, might be secured. There was alio a block of 8000 acres in the Taranald district which it was possible the Council might get. Mr. Pirani reported that he had ascertained that there was a native reserve of 10 •ores at Newtown which the Counoil might be able to secure as an endowment. The Counoil then adjourned.
