Mr. Park, postmaster at Tanpo, telegraphed at 9.38 this morning to the ScoreMtf of the General Post Office as follows :— " The party could not find the reported new fnmarole behind Tauharo. We had severe shooks dnring the night. No further damage " Mr. Hebberley, telegraphist, wired this morning from Tarawera as follows :— " Two sharp shooks were felt here, one at 9 hut night, and ono at 1.25 this morning. All the hills round the south ore capped with snow this morning." The following telegram was sent to Mr. Gray this morning by Mr. Harrington, officer in obarge of the telegraph offioe, Napier :— " A sharp shook of earthquake was felt here at 1.40 this morning." A sharp shook of earthquake was felt in Wellington at 1.40 this morning. The direo- , tion was north and south and then east and west.
