THE CHEMIS CASE. I DESIRE to express my sincere thanks to the Parliament of New Zealand for having passed an Aot to enable my husband to apply to the Court of Appeal for a new trial, and I also desire to thank the individual members of eaoh House for the very great kindness they hayo shown to me and mine in our great affliction . To Mr. C. H. Mills is due my warmeat thanks for the nnfiring efforts he has made to obtain the passing of the measure. For tho last six years I have struggled against the influences of the authorities and the preSß, and now that my husband is free to go to the Court of Appeal and to establish his innooenoe by a new trial, I find myself penniless and without the means to assist him in meeting the heavy expense whioh will be necessarily inourred. Mr. Jellicoe has not only in the past givon us his services gratuitously, but he has spent some hundreds of pounds out of bis "own pocket in endeavouring to obtain justice for my husband. lam therefore driven to appeal to the many kind friends and sympathisers for a little help towards meeting the costs of the application to the Court of Appeal and the new trial. I oannot in reason or fairness ask Mr. Jellicoo to undertake the further oonduot of the matter and to again disburse money out of his own pooket without being in Borne manner able to indemnify him againct the expenditnre. Subscriptions forwarded to me at 105, Tinakori-road, will be gratefully received and dnly acknowledged. ANNIE CHEMIS. THE OFFICE OF ' THE UNDERSIGNED WILL BE OPENED TO-MORROW (Sattjbday), 17th AUG., From 2.30 p.m. to 5 p m., When Investors may obtain the latest available information about the Auckland Goldmines. Prospeotus.es of a new venture in the Karangahape Distriot may be obtained on application. A, T. BATE, Sharebroker, 84, Lambton-quay.
