Collars of Chiffon and Lace. — A number of Buch' pretty items are now fashionably warn. The collar is lined with black velvet and covered with folded cerise chiffon, puffings being made at the sides and book, and two ends extend in front edged with white lace ; these ends are'secured beneath small bouquets of violets. ' '" Lady's Gaiters. — The 'gaiter is out symmetrical to the outline of the foot and ankle, and reaches to well above the height of an ordinary boot. It has a centre front and back seam, and fastens with buttons and buttonholes at the outer side of the foot and leg, a strap beneath the foot and keeping the gaiter in position there, buckling at the side. Tweed, cloth, and felt are used for the gaiter. The gaiter as a rule is worn over shoes. For the pair of gaiters, material twenty-seven inches wide, three-quarters of a yard will be required for either size. Child's Gaiters.— The gaiters are usually made of the material of the child's coat, this being stout enough to give the desired warmth and to preserve the ahape of the gaiters. They reach above the knee and are caught up with the stocking suspenders, the foot portion covering the boot well. The shaping of the gaiters is made by centrefront and back scams, the buttoning tnkiug place at the side, a strap passing beneath the the foot and buckling also at the Bide. To make the* gaiters of material twenty-four inches wide for a child of four years it wil) require one yard ; for a child qf eight years it will require one and one-eighth yards; and for a child of twelve years it will require one and a-quarter yard*. Fur Collar, with Lace. — This is simply a neok band of smooth-surfaced, rich black or brown fur, lined with satin and trimmed with two deep full pieces of lace, di aped in points and caught at the top with roses. Plastron of Lace and Velvet. — Plastron having a deep cream lace frill foundation, over which fall pleated pointed pieces of the brightest blue velvet, scoured with little trillings and rosettes of the same material. The collar is covered with a folded band of velvet, finishing in a bow at the back where the fastening is made. A stylish bonnet trimming is that of a large bow placed square in front. Cloth Bonnet. — The bonnet is a dainty shape in white cloth, cut out in scallops around the edge and ornamented with a pattern of jet. The crown is of sapphireblue velvet, arranged in irregular puffs, and pulled forward high over the bonnet in front. Ties of blue velvet ribbon. For this bonnet the hair is dressed low on the back of the head. Lady's Cape, with Hood.— The cape is a double shape, the lower part being deep, and adjusted to the shoulders by double darts. The upper cape is in waist depth, and over the shoulders at the back droops a broad hood, folded back over the point at bottom. A lining in similarity with that of the cape faces the hood. A high collar comfortably encloses the neck, and this may be worn turned down if so preferred. Tweeds, box- cloths, and suitings are used for making these capes, and their finish is generally a neat plain stitohing. The cape is kept securely on the figure by straps fastened at the book of the collar and at the farthermost darts, brought forward, crossed in front and buttoned at the back again. To make the cape of material 48 inches wide it will require 3f yards for small size ; for medium size 4 yards ; and for huge size i\ yards.
