BEI'BKSKNTATIVE TBIAIi MATCH. Tho trial match between the A and B t anis produced a very interesting exhibition of iootball. Tho form shown by Beveral of fie players was first-class, and the game as n whole afforded the committee an excellent 1 ! c\ of the capabilities of the players. For A team, Hales, Roache, and Orawf nrd soored tries, and Baumber converted Roache' a try. For B team, Prioe, Warwiok, and Roberts touched down, and Boberts converted Warwick's try. In the seoond Bpell an alteralion waß made whereby 14 probables had little difficulty in beating a team of possibles. For the probables Pudney, Johnson, Kelly (Athletic), Banmber, and Kelly (Poneke) Ecored tries, and Baumber oonverted two and Kelly (Poneke) one try. For the possibles Laughton, Roache, and Uallagher touched down, and Warwick placed a goal from one of the tries. Mr. B. Davy was referee, and Messrs. Wells and Galbraith were line umpires. SINIOB KIPBESENTATIYE TEAM. The Senior Selootion Committee (Messrs. G Faohe, S. Nicholls, and J. Gamble) hag selected the following team to represent Wellington against Manawatu at Petone on Saturday next :— Full-back, H. Davidson (Poneke); three-quarters, W.Roberts and J. JJaumber {Petone), P. Galloway (Poneke); five-eight, H. Kelly (Athletic) ; half-back, O. Craufnrd (Athletic) ; win? forwards, J. Kelly (Poneke), W. M'Kenzie (Petone) ; lor wards, J. Swmdley (Athletic), A. Campbell and Calnan (Melroso , F. Young and J. Poland (Poneke), Pringle and Hardoastle (Petone). Emergencies — Baoks, Roache, De Joux, and Pudney ; forwards, Johnson, M' Anally, and M'Lean. Two or three alterations might well have been made in the personnel of the team. Koaoke, on his form in club matches and in the trial match, is deserving of a place, and should have been chosen to fill the position now occupied by Baumber; and Banmber, t'rom his experience in the position of fiyeeighths, should replace Kelly ; while, judging from form displayed by Pudney at half-back in late matches, he should have been chosen in preference to Craufurd. Craufnrd adopts essentially the one game, whereas Pudney is quite as good as Craufurd in this particular class, and cleverer and trickier in other points behind the scrum. M'Lean, M'Anally, md Gallagher are before Calnan, who has been chosen in the forward rank, and it is hard to oonceive what has influenced the Committee in coming to this deoision. Tho forwards are a good all-round lot, and with such doughty players as Young, Poland, M'Kenzie, Kelly, Hardcastle, Campbell, &c, should give considerable trouble to the Manawatu men. Craufnrd has been appointed captain of the team, who are requested to roll up at the Gymnasium on Monday and Thutsday evenings at 7.30 p.m. JUNIOR BEPBISBNTATIVS TEAM. The following Junior representative team baa been selected to play against the Manawatu Juniors at Nowtown Park on Wednesday t — Full-back, Jackson (Petone) ; threequarters, Madden (Selwyn), Oarswell (Melrose), Morton (Poneke) ; five - eight, McCarthy (MelroBe) ; half, Page (Oriental) ; wing forwards, Ariiott and Hart (Athletic) ; forwards, Barr and Shepheard (Athletic) ; Sievers and Love (Melrose), Bush (Oriental), Barlow (Petone), and Heighten (Selwyn). The Wellington College boya played down hill during the first term, and before five minutes had elapsed Tripe scored a try for the Wellington College near the corner flag, Hales being unable to increase the score. On resuming the St. Patrick boys invaded their opponents' territory, bnt M'Konzie interrupted a pass, and by a fine kick the play was taken to the other end of the field. The Wellington backs made repeated attacks, bnt the defence of the bt. Patrick backs was too good. M'Kenzie, however, found an opening, and scored near tho posts, Tripe placing a goal, 'lhe game was cf a vory interesting nature during the second spell, but condition told a tale, and it was evident that the Wellington I oye had put in more work than their opponents. Hales and Tripe scored tries during this term, the latter converting both soorcs. Tho Wellington boys showed fine combination, and beat their opponents in securing the ball in the scrimmages. The St. Patrick's boys did not play with any combination among their backs, but the forwards worked hard. Mr. H. J. Wynyard acted as referee, Messrs. G. J. Reid and B.
