Reid and Brown against the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly for their expulsion from the House in September lost, both were nonsuited, with costs. An appeal will probably be lodged. Rabbits are swarming over the New South Wales border, and devastating the country. The Royal Bank of Queensland is arranging to pay off the deposits looked up under the reconstruction soheme by the issue of 4 per cent, debenture stock. One-half of the first instalment has already been paid, although it is not due till 18S.8. The second half will be paid shortly. Last year the bank reduced the amount due to the Government by £160,000. Sydney, This Day. A statement of the public debt of tbe oolony Bhows that at the end of December last it totalled £58,200,000, the annual interest payable thereon being £2,205,000. The total interest paid since the first loan was raised has been £30,373,000. Adelajdb, This Day.
