Pendleton, General Traffic Manager, has been appointed Railway Commissioner, at .£l2OO, and the other two Commisioners ara to be dispensed with. A saving of .£5OOO per annum will thus be effected. Stdnit, Bth May. The Full Court has reversed the verdict in the case in conneotion with the AlatheaSol collision. When the case was previously before the Court the owners of the Alathea sued the President of the Marine Board, as the owner of the Sol, for damages, and obtained judgment for 4600. The Board appealed against the deoision, on the gronnd that at the time of the collision the Sol was not in the employ of the Board, as she was conveying a number of gentlemen down the harbour who were not ou the business of the Board. The appeal was upheld. Brisbane, Bth May. The Exeoutivo has considered the case of six South Sea Islanders who murdered a white man at Bundaberg, and has decided that the death sentence shall be carried out in the case of two of the men, while iri the case of the others it shall be oommuted to penal servitude for life. (Reoeived May 9, 10.30 a.m.) Melbourne, This Day. The firm of Abraham Bros, is applying for a now trial in the case in which Mr. Greener, gun manufacturer, was awarded heavy damages. The gronnd of application is that the damages ara excessive and vindiotive. Mr. Harper, Chairman of the Australian Deposit and Mortgage Bank, is leaving for England, to try to induoe the depositors to re-open the reconstruction scheme and grant the Bank oasier terms.
