When Colonel Kelly readied Yogazo, 12 miles from Chitral, on Friday, Dr. Robertson intimated that tho besiegers had fled The garrison of tbe fort has lost one-third of its strength since the siego began, 39 being killed and 62 wounded. Dr. Robertson and Captain Campbell were both severely wounded. Lieutenant Gurdon is sa r c. The highest praise is awarded Colonel Kelly for his brilliant march in the face of tho greatest difficulties. Colonel Gateacre is now crossing the Lowari Pass, 10,000 ft high. Latest. INCIDENTS C>F~THE SIEGE. [UNITED PBISS ASSOCIATION.) (Received April 26, 10.20 a.m.) Calcutta, 25th April. The siego of Chitral began on 4th March and ended on 10th April. The garrison had to subsist on very inferior food. The enemy's trenches wore constrnoted up to within 40 yards of the gate of the fort. The besiegers set fire to a gun tower, and also endeavoured to barn down the water tower, but in each case the flames were extinguished before they obtained a firm hold. Several sorties were made. In one of these, the besieged re-captured a lost summer house, and exploded one of the enemy's mines. The enemy lost 60 men, 35 being baj oneted ; while Dr. Robertson bad 21 men killed and 23 wounded. After this reverse Sher Afzul and Umra Khan retired to Broz, lower down the valley, and a number of their followers fled. Heavy losses occurred through wonderful shooting fiom the trenches around the fort. When the party was beßieged with Amir-ul-Mnlk, Dr Robertson arrested the latter for conspiracy with Umra Kban to attack the British. Colonel Kelly reached Chitral on the 20th inst. Dr. Robertson reports that after 3rd March tho garrison regarded tbe position as hopeless, as it was believed that the Moslems had united in a religious war.
