THE OPERA COMPANY.

" Madame Fnvart" was repeated at the Opera House last evening, when its performanoe was, as wo anticpated, a very marked advance upon that of the preceding evening. The company played on Monday evening under singular oironmstanoes. A. part of tho heavy loss sustained by Mr. Pollard at the Palmerston fire was the destruction of the aoting and band parts and the prompt books of a great part of the repertoire. The "' promptbook " and parta of "Madame Favart," whioh the company was just preparing, were destroyed, and the preparation for tho Wellington production had to prooeed from memory, one of the young performers undertaking the task of writing up a new "prompt" book, completely from memory. This was not ready for the rehearsals or Monday's performance, and so it had to be done without, but a oomplote oopy was available yesterday morning, and the parts were completed. There was a marked change in the evening production. The opera watf played with great spirit, carrying tho audienoe with it and securing much apElanse. The performers, too, were in much etter Voice than on Monday. Master Percy and Miss Metoalfe played with viyaoity and success, and the other performers playing well up to them, an enjoyable performance resulted. The opera will be repeated to-night.
