SHEEP MORTALITY.
[united press association. 1 • Stdnbt, 23rd April. Large numbers of sheep are dying in the Braidwood district from a new disoase, locally known as liver rot. It is distinct from Sake. A Governmont officer has been sent to investigate. | Auckland, 23rd April. Among the passengers from Sydney by the 1 Manaponri was Mr. H. Simon, who comes to New Zealand as representative of Mr. John Pattife, veterinary surgeon, Sydney, to investigate the mortality amongst sheep. A similar class of diseases has appeared in New South Wales, and the method of treatment devised by Mr. Pattio proved remarkably successful. Mr. Simon will visit Hawke's Bay and tho Wellington district, but it is doubtful whether he will bo ablo to go to the South , Island.
